Gotham is a clean and confident geometric sans serif font inspired by everyday New York City lettering. You’ll find its roots in painted signs, bronze numbers, storefront glass, and old posters. Designers Jonathan Hoefler and Tobias Frere-Jones created the typeface in 2000. They aimed to capture the honest, no-nonsense feel of urban lettering.

Gotham first appeared in GQ magazine in 2001. It became globally popular in 2008 when Barack Obama used it for his presidential campaign. Since then, it has become one of the most recognized commercial fonts in the world.

The font feels bold but never loud, friendly but not casual. It works well in branding, logos, websites, and editorial layouts. Gotham comes in multiple widths: Narrow, Extra Narrow, and Condensed. Each width includes several weights and matching italics. With over 66 styles, Gotham gives you the flexibility to match many design needs.
